Signs your bathroom is due

Any one of these deserves a closer look. Several together suggest a remodel will solve more than another repair.

  • Grout is cracked or turning black, and tiles sound hollow when tapped.
  • A damp patch or peeling paint shows on a wall or ceiling beside or below the bathroom.
  • The floor or vanity feels soft, or the sealant around the bath keeps failing.
  • The shower leaks, drains slowly or loses pressure.
  • Fixtures are stained, corroded or no longer sold, so repairs keep failing.
  • The mirror and ceiling fog up and mold keeps coming back, which points to weak ventilation.
  • The room feels cramped, dark or hard to clean, and the layout works against you.
  • Someone in the home finds the bath edge or the shower step hard to use.

What a bathroom remodel includes

Every item below is part of our bathroom scope, run by one team in the right order.

Bathroom with a floating wood vanity, a large mirror, a white bath and a glass-enclosed shower
  • Full bathroom remodeling

Strip-out to finished room, planned as one job whatever the size.

  • Plumbing and electrical work

Supply and drain runs, shower valves, exhaust fan wiring, lighting and outlets placed to suit the new layout.

  • Shower and bathtub installations

Walk-in showers, tray showers, built-in baths or freestanding baths, fitted and sealed.

  • Installation of fixtures and fittings

Basins, vanities, toilets, faucets, shower heads, mirrors and accessories.

  • Tiling and flooring

Wall and floor tiles set out and laid over waterproofing, with a slip-resistant finish where the floor gets wet.

  • Painting and wall treatments

Ceilings and the walls above the tile line finished in moisture-resistant paint.

  • Every bathroom size

From a compact guest bath to a large main bathroom, all sizes are considered for renovation.

Shower layouts compared

The room size, the waterproofing detail and who uses the bathroom decide which layout works.

Walk-in shower, flush floor

Why people choose it
Open and step-free, easy to clean and easy to enter at any age.
Check first
The floor must slope to a drain, and the whole area needs full waterproofing.

Shower tray with glass enclosure

Why people choose it
Simple to fit and replace; the tray is a ready-made waterproof base.
Check first
A raised edge to step over, and the joint around the tray needs sealing.

Bath with a shower screen

Why people choose it
Keeps a bath for children and soaking while adding a shower.
Check first
Takes the most floor area, and the screen must meet the bath edge cleanly.

Freestanding bath plus separate shower

Why people choose it
Full bathing and showering side by side, with the bath as a feature.
Check first
Needs room around the bath, a floor that can carry the weight and fittings planned early.

Your estimate itemizes whichever layout you choose, so you can compare the cost of each.

Waterproofing comes before the tile

Tiles and grout are not a waterproof barrier on their own. Water finds its way through the joints, so a sealed layer goes onto the floor and the shower walls before any tile is set. In a bathroom used every day, that layer is tested every day.

That is why the order matters: strip-out, pipework, waterproofing, then tile. A rushed hidden layer is how a good-looking bathroom goes wrong, and a failure can reach the wall behind it or the room below. Ask to see it as its own step in the itemized estimate.

Decisions to make early

These choices set the layout, the order of work and the estimate.

Bathroom with a glass shower in dark tile, a long white vanity with two basins and a toilet
Shower, bath or both?
Think about who uses the room. A bath matters if there are young children, and a step-free shower matters for older family members. If you want both, check the floor area first.
Which tiles for the walls and floor?
Ceramic and porcelain are the everyday choices. Marble and granite look richer but need more care and sealing. Floors need a slip-resistant finish where they get wet.
Where do the fixtures go?
Fix the basin, toilet, shower and bath positions before the plumbing starts. Moving a toilet or drain changes the work under the floor, which changes the estimate.
How will you light and ventilate it?
Choose mirror lighting, ceiling lights and an exhaust fan together. Good ventilation clears steam and helps keep mold away. Lights near water must be rated for it.
Where does storage go?
Shower niches, a vanity with drawers and a mirror cabinet keep surfaces clear. A niche has to be planned before the wall is waterproofed and tiled.
Will the hot water keep up?
Check that the water heater can supply a larger shower head or a bath. If it cannot, plan a replacement alongside the remodel.

How a bathroom remodel runs

These are the stages we follow on every bathroom, from the first inspection to the final walkthrough.

How every renovation runs
  1. 01

    Initial inspection

We measure the room and check the walls, floor, pipework, wiring and ventilation, and how the bathroom sits against the rooms around it.

  2. 02

    Assessment and diagnosis

We look for what is behind the surfaces: leaks, damp, weak floors, old wiring. Then we agree the layout, fixtures and tiles with you, and itemize every step.

  3. 03

    Strip-out and new plumbing

Old fixtures, tiles and screed come out. New supply and drain pipes and electrical points go in and are tested.

  4. 04

    Waterproofing and tiling

A sealed layer goes onto the floor and shower walls. Tiles are then set out so cuts fall in the right places and the floor drains properly.

  5. 05

    Fixtures, fittings and finishing

Basin, toilet, shower and bath, faucets, lighting and accessories are fitted, then walls and ceiling are painted.

  6. 06

    Quality check

Water runs, drains, fans, lights and outlets are tested, and grout lines, sealant and edges are inspected.

  7. 07

    Final walkthrough

We walk the finished bathroom with you, then clean up and hand over. Our support continues after the job: if you have questions, call us.

Bathroom remodeling questions

How much does a bathroom remodel cost?

It depends on the size of the room, the tile and fixture choices and how much plumbing moves. The estimate is free, with no obligation or upfront payment, and every step of the breakdown is detailed before work starts, with no hidden charges.

Can you remodel a small bathroom?

Yes. All bathroom sizes are considered for renovation, from a compact guest bath to a large main bathroom.

Can I replace my bath with a walk-in shower?

Often, yes. It changes the floor, the drain and the waterproofing, so it is planned as part of the layout. In an apartment the building limits where a drain can go, so confirm that early.

How long will I be without a bathroom?

That depends on the size, the tiles and how many items must be ordered, so we do not promise a number before seeing the room. If your home has a second bathroom, work can run in stages or in off-hours to limit the disruption.

Do I need permission to remodel a bathroom?

A like-for-like refresh is the least likely to need it. Moving wet areas, changing shared pipes or altering ducting in an apartment can need approval from your building management or developer. Tell us your building when you request an estimate.

How is the finished bathroom checked?
